Funeral service for Ada Wood, age 100, formerly of Chickasha, will be held at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ on Monday, February 6, 2017, at 1:00 P.M.
Ada was born the daughter of William Henry Colbert and Maggie Mae Kelley Colbert on September 14, 1916, in Killeen, Texas. She died on February 2, 2017, in Wichita, Kansas.
Ada grew up in east Texas, and later moved to Wills Point, Texas, where she met and married Thomas Wood. Thomas worked in the oilfield and they lived many places following his work. After the death of her husband in 1978, she continued to live in Ardmore, Oklahoma. In 1989, she moved to Chickasha. She was a member of the Southern Oaks Church of Christ and taught bible school for over twenty five years.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Maggie Colbert; husband Thomas Wood on June 19, 1978; two sons: James "Skip" Wood and Don Wood and granddaughter Kathy Wood Garrett.
Survivors include her daughter, Rosemary Bartel, of Wichita, Kansas; seven grandchildren: Mark Wood, John Wood, Tommy Wood, Daniel Wood, Thomas Wood, Dusty Wood, and Skye Custer; many great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Noble, Oklahoma. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
