Memorial services for Arline Hazel (Sample) Epperson, 89, of Chickasha, will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church, 4th Street and Iowa Avenue, Chickasha, OK with Rev. Scott Keneda officiating.
Arline was born on April 7, 1928 in Bennington, Oklahoma, the youngest of ten children to John Clifford Sample and Rhoda Ellen (Dallas) Sample. She died January 15, 2018 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Arline was raised in Shady Grove (rural Bryan County, Oklahoma) and graduated from Bennington High School.
Arline married Joseph Eugene Epperson on March 4, 1948 in Sherman, Texas. From that union came three children: Darla Jo, Joseph Eugene II and Byron Douglas.
Arline and Joe moved to Chickasha in 1950 where she was employed at the Chickasha Cotton Oil Mill, Hudgens, Thompson & Ball and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority before retiring in 1973.
Arline enjoyed working in her yard and garden, bird watching, traveling and being "Nanny" to her grandkids and great grandkids. She was a faithful member of Epworth United Methodist Church for over 65 years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father and 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Joe of the home; daughter Darla Gage and husband Gary of Alex, OK; son Joseph (Jay) and wife Janie of Chickasha; son Byron (Doug) and wife Roxanne of Chickasha; grandchildren Kim Irving and husband Kip of Chickasha; Lori Holt of Tyler, TX; Chris Epperson; Katie Brandon and husband Wayne of Chickasha; Melissa Chilton and husband Zach of Minco, OK; Josh Epperson and wife Brandi of Chickasha; great grandchildren: Kenzi Epperson, Tatum Collier, Luke Chilton and Sophia Brandon; and countless relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, 420 W. Iowa Avenue, Chickasha, OK 73018 or the charity of your choice.
Her cremains will be interred in the Epworth Memorial Columbarium.
