Bill  Johnson


Bill James Johnson, age 80 of Lindsay, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday morning, May 1, 2019 surrounded by family. Born April 21, 1939, in Childress, TX, he was the son of the late Leary Ewell Johnson and Willie Elizabeth Ann Story. Preceded in death by his siblings Howard Denton Johnson, Larry Johnson & Maxola Beck. Survived by his sister Kaye Johnson.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Joan Marie Pate, married December 28, 1959. He is survived by his 3 children, Larry and Becky Johnson of Huffman, Texas, Debbie and Danny Seibel of Maysville, Oklahoma, Angie and Jason Paul of Moore, Oklahoma. Nine grandchildren, Brandice Johnson, Martha Johnson, Zack Johnson, Shae Johnson, Douglas and Timmi Ezell, Dustin Ezell, Baylee and Taylor Adkins, Logan Clark, Pateyn Clark. Three great grandchildren, Aiden, Jaydee, Averee, and many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
Graduated from Chickasha High School in Chickasha, OK in 1957. Attended McNeese State College in Lake Charles, LA for one year in 1958. He later enlisted in the Army in 1960 and served 5 ½ years in the Army Reserve. Bill dreamed of being a professional baseball player for the Brooklyn Dodgers, or an artist for Walt Disney Studios, but his life went in a different direction.
Bill worked in the oilfield, before moving to Lindsay, OK and opened Bill's DX Service Station from 1963 to 1967. He later drove a Hot Oiler for Hilderbrandt Tank Trucks for 8 years. In 1976 managed and operated Western Propane Co. for 28 years, until his retirement in 2005.
Bill was a fantastic artist and worked as a sign painter for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, taking pictures and spending time with his family. His wonderful sense of humor and quick wit, will truly be missed by his family and friends.
A Funeral Service to honor the life of Bill is set to begin at 10:00 A.M on Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Boydston-Wilbourn Chapel in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Clay Hicks Officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at the Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay Oklahoma.
