Charles Mitchusson, Sr

Charles "Sonny" Young Mitchusson, Sr. was born on July 4, 1923 in Alex, Oklahoma to Amon Young Mitchusson and Mable Clare (Tarpley) Mitchusson Lance. He passed from this life on May 27, 2018 at the age of 94.
Sonny lived in the Bradley area for most of his life and he was a graduate of the Bradley High School. Sonny was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Bradley.
Sonny enlisted in the United States Army to serve his Country during World War II. He served in Company C 187th Engineer Combat Battalion. He received many military decorations and citations for his service which included; World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, EAME Theater Ribbon, Two Bronze Service Stars, and the Army of Occupation Ribbon (Germany).
In November of 1948, Sonny married the love of his life Eva Geraldine (Ferrell) Mitchusson. Together they had four sons: Charles, Don, Ronny, & Gaylon. Sonny was a devoted husband and a loving father to his family.
After leaving the Army, Sonny had numerous jobs in farming, retail, and oilfield before beginning work at the Bradley Post Office until his retirement. His desire to serve never wavered and he took on many more roles of service. He served as a Deacon, Music Director, and the Sunday School Superintendent at his church. Sonny was also a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Sonny also served on the Bradley Cemetery Board for 28 years.
Sonny leaves behind his wife: Eva Mitchusson, his children: Charles "Chuck" Mitchusson, Jr. and his wife Marcia, Don Mitchusson and his wife Barbara, Ronny Mitchusson and his wife Judy, his daughter-in-law: Beverly Mitchusson, his grandchildren: Lisa, Allan, Melanie, Chris, Toni, Jason, and Daniel, his great grandchildren: Valerie, Nikki, Trace, Jared, Nathan, Connor, Andrew, Noah, Maggie, Marissa, Bailee, his great-great grandchildren: Ryder and Jaxson, and numerous cousins, family, and friends.
Sonny is preceded in death by his parents: Amon Mitchusson and Mable Lance, his step-father: Chester "Pete" Lance, and his son: Gaylon Mitchusson.
Funeral Services for Sonny are set to begin at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Bradley in Bradley, Oklahoma. He will be laid to rest following the service at the Bradley Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Scott Wilbourn with Boydston Funeral Home in Lindsay, Oklahoma.
