Edith Linville

On Friday, May 31, 2019, Edith May (Brown) Linville, a loving mother and grandmother, died at the age of 96.
Edith was born on March 6, 1923, in Pushmataha County, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of James G. and Sara Elizabeth (Walton) Brown. Her siblings were Violet Moody, Eula Jones, Dollie Brown, Etta Butler, Calvin Brown, and James Oscar Brown.
She was married to Earl I. Linville, Sr. on June 9, 1940, in Iona, Oklahoma. Edith and Earl were married for forty-six years.
Edith was a long-time Chickasha resident and dedicated member of the First Assembly of God Church. She was a devoted caretaker and teacher of children in the church nursery. She took great pleasure in watching her students grow and continued to rejoice with them in their major life events as they grew older. Edith was a resident of Nowata Gardens, where, at one point, she was the longest-tenured resident and was well-loved by all.
In addition to her parents and siblings, Edith is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Imes Linville, Sr., two sons, Paul Allen Linville and Earl Imes Linville, Jr., four grandchildren, Carl Armand Taylor, Carolyn Ann Taylor Weeks, Brandon Lee Thomas Linville, and Bryan Earl Dixie Linville.
Survivors include: Ora Lee Linville, Jerry Don Linville, Kimberly Linville Nix, Joyce Faye and Gene Freeman, Edith Gail and Butch Cobb, June and David McDowell, Janice and Gary Sutherlin, Jimmy and Susan Linville, 30 grandchildren, plus one missing granddaughter, Patricia Lynn Taylor, 42 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
There will be an open viewing held at De'Arman Funeral Home in Sulphur at 9 am followed by a formal service at 10 am on June 8.
While Edith now rejoices in the presence her Heavenly Father, she and her love and kindness will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.
