Edward's Story

Edward Douglas Dexter, born Nov. 23, 1939 in Riverside, CA to Clair F. and Evelyn F. Dexter, went home to heaven on February 23, 2017, in Chickasha, OK.
The oldest of 4 children, Edward was the first called upon every morning and every evening to tend to the farm, developing a strong work ethic that would carry forward into his adult life.   Edward was a teacher, a scholar, a philosopher, a theologian, a minister, and a loving and devoted husband and father. 
Those left to cherish his memories are his two sisters and their spouses, Sharon & Eldon Orrell of Barnes, KS, Janice & Jim Owen of Peoria, AZ, his sister-in-law Donna Dexter of Golden Valley, AZ, his wife, Rev. Jerrie Dexter of Chickasha, OK, his two daughters and their spouses, Kimberlee & Robert Griffin of Yukon, OK, Kathleen Dexter-Mitchell & Nicholas Mitchell of Naperville, IL, his son Kendal Dexter of Edmond, OK, his step-son and his spouse Terrance & Brandy Enouen of Oklahoma City, OK and his step-son Lawrence Enouen of Norman, OK.  His former wife Jeanie Chancellor (Dexter) of Bethany, OK and his 14 grandchildren: Zachary, Emily, Evan, Emmaleigh, Trenton, Lauren, Sarah, Erin Gay, Simon Paul, Emma, Trey, Dryden, Tanner, Dashel & Everly.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Clair and Evelyn Dexter, his brother Melvin Dexter, and his step-son Paul Enouen, Jr.
A Memorial service to celebrate Ed's life will held on Tuesday, February 28, 10:00am at Epworth United Methodist Church, in Chickasha, OK.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Skyline Urban Ministry Community Outreach Program, 500 SE 15th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73129
