Elton Morgan, Sr
Elton Morgan Sr. was born on July 10, 1938 to James and Viola (Barrett) Morgan in Tallapoosa, MO. Elton's family moved to California during the Depression, settling first in Los Angeles and then Fallbrook. He attended Vista High School and completed his education through the American School in Chicago. It was in his high school year of 1954 that he met Lana Turner. They began dating in June of 1957 and then married the love of his life on June 15, 1958. They celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. Elton and Lana are the parents of one son, Elton Loyd Morgan Jr. and two daughters, Sharlene Viola Morgan and Darla Michele Oberlender. He retired from the Marine Corps Exchange, Camp Pendleton in 1977 as Asst. Warehouse Manager and Safety Officer. Elton and Lana decided to follow their life-long friends, Dale and Pat Morgan, to Oklahoma and settled in Chickasha in 1977.
Elton was a man dedicated to his faith in God, his church, and his family. He worked in the Royal Rangers program both as a commander and as a training officer for leaders. He served faithfully in the tape ministry of any church he was a part of. Elton was a very talented wood craftsman and was delighted to share his gifts with friends. One of his great joys was in working alongside Pastor Larry Hatfield during the construction of Grand Assembly of God, which he was a member of.
Elton was preceded in death by his parents, James and Viola Morgan; sister, Barbara Morgan Donaho; brother, James Larry Morgan; and special niece, Ginger Donaho Boyd. His family surviving are wife, Lana Morgan of the home; son, Elton Jr. and Gayla Morgan; daughter, Sharlene Morgan; daughter, Darla and Michael Oberlender, all of Chickasha. His precious grandchildren are: Steffanie Morgan (who was his special caregiver), Michael Morgan, Nolan and Brittany Powell, Cassie and Colt Elam, Walker Powell, and Kelsie Morgan. And the sunshine of his life - great granddaughter Isabella Morgan.
The family is so appreciative of the kind and loving care and support provided to Elton Sr. by Lifeline Hospice.
