James's Story

Text size

Chickasha, Ok - James Russell Laws, 56, passed away peacefully from a terminal illness, Thursday, March the 23rd in his home with his family by his side.
He leaves behind his wife of 15 years, Bonita Laws, sons, James Russell Laws Jr & Jess Cockerham, daughter, Anissa Laws, granddaughter, Makenzi Cockerham, grandson, Noah Frazier and many more family members and friends that could be mentioned.
Rusty was born on 11-4-1960 in Farmington, New Mexico and was proceeded in death by his father, James Lloyd Laws, mother, Loreta Laws, sister, Lisa Laws, brother, Steven Laws and daughter, Charlina Cockerham.
Rusty truly was a one of a kind character, a hard worker, loyal, a good friend, an alright fisherman, a damn good, beer drinking story teller, that always put right in front of wrong and loved his family to the end. I could go on and on about the man we all loved, but we'll save those stories for cookouts and other family-friend gatherings.
Words can't express everything we could say about his life and how important he was to all of us. Even his second family at UNIT Drilling, where he worked for the last 20 years, will miss him terribly. He's that good of a man, the best kind of all and his loss will impact us in great ways. The world lost a good one, but he wouldn't want any of us to be down about it, he'd tell us all to quit crying and to get back to work. So we will, but we'll complain about it every now and then just to aggravate him a little, but we'll never stop loving him. Rest in Peace and save us all a spot on the couch somewhere, we can't wait to watch another Thunder game together, love you!
A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 30th, 2017 @ 2 p.m.
@ Full Gospel Church, 722 N. 10th St. Chickasha, OK 73018
