Larry Wayne "Skipper" Worbes was born on May 22, 1948, the son of Pete and Mary Jo Hayes Worbes. He passed away Monday, September 11, 2017.
Skipper worked from the time he was 14 years old at numerous jobs. During his high school years, he worked at Dunn's Red Bud store. He loved working on cars with his dad. His pride was his '55 2 door post Chevy. He and several others would go out to Norge Rd and run their cars through the quarter mile on weekends hoping to avoid getting caught by the Highway Patrol. He loved the winner which he almost always was!
Skipper graduated from Chickasha High School in 1966. February, 1967 Skipper joined the Army Reserve and went to Ft. Lewis, Washington for his basic training. He then went to Ft. Ord, California for AIT training, where he became a drill sergeant. He was discharged from Army Reserve in 1972.
Skipper was married to Darlene Anderson from 1967-1977 and he was married to Pam Haire from 1979-1999.
Skipper was employed by Mobil Oil Co for many years form which he retired and then worked for Oneok where he also retired. He worked for Stegall Oil Co. also.
Skipper was saved and baptized July 15, 1973 at Sharon Baptist Church where he was active in the Children's Bus Ministry and Children's Church.
Skipper enjoyed watching all of his grandchildren play baseball, basketball, and football. He enjoyed having his coffee with his friends every morning. He had many motorcycle friends and enjoyed riding. Skipper enjoyed building Kyle's car.
Skipper was preceded in death by his dad, Pete Worbes, his mother, Mary Jo Worbes, and his brother, Ricky Worbes.
He is survived by his Sister, Linda Paramore, son and daughter-in-law, Jonah and Tara Worbes of Chickasha; son and daughter-in-law, Cory and Melanie Newby of Lindsay, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Johnny Brown of Ratliff City, OK; son, Judd Newby of Lindsay, OK; stepdaughter, Lori McCracken of Chickasha; grandchildren, Carlie Green, Cale Green, Carli Newby, Kelton Brown, Kyndel Brown, Kyle, Dylan, and Ryder Worbes; and many friends.
Services were held Saturday September 16 at 10:30am
