Leighton (Lex) Paul Laird was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma on October 29, 1945 to R.O. Laird and Alice Laird. He graduated from Chickasha High School and then went on to graduate from UCO. He worked as a trim carpenter for Perdue Industries for numerous years. Afterwards he started his own business in the oil and gas industry from which he never retired. Lex was a founder and member of Gateway to Hope Chapel and he was also a member of the Gideons for 20 plus years. Lex married Glenna on March 1, 1991. He was an avid sports fan, loved chasing trains and listening to the blues and jazz.
Lex was preceded in death by both of his parents and his older brother, Stephen Laird.
Lex is survived by his wife Glenna; one son, Keith Wilson and his wife Theresa Wilson; one daughter, Kristyl Reed and her husband Jerry Reed; 11 grandchildren, Jordyn, Jeremy, Keiley, Derek, Allyson, Jarett, Kameryn, Connor, Jenna, Kaitlyn, and Colby; his niece Michelle Laird Heath and her husband Clint; their son Braden; and many other nieces and nephews that were very special to him. He is also survived by his long time best friend John Hinds.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Grand Assembly of God Church, 102 East Almar Drive, Chickasha, OK.
Interment will be in the Pioneer Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

Aunt Glenna remember when Avery was little and Lex bought the house down the road from where I lived and we went in the house to see what he had done to the house we went into the laundry room and Avery had turned on the faucet before lex saw him and the water had sprayed Avery in the face
