Nick Lawrence Mickle died in the early morning of Tuesday, June 28 in Oklahoma City, OK due to complications following a heart attack. He was 65.
Nick was born on September 6, 1950 in Vernon, TX to his parents, Richard Harmon ("Mick") Mickle and Vivian Irene Wiggins.
He married Tammy Lorene Foster in 1980, and they had two children, Richard Nicholas Mickle and Jaycee Irene Mickle. He later married Alice Marie ("Sally") Oliphant, and they had a son, Jesse Earl Lawrence Mickle.
In his early years, Nick worked as a musician, traveling and playing drums for several different bands. Later in life he settled in Chickasha and worked as an electrician.
Nick loved playing and listening to music, and he passed that on to his son Jess, who picked up the drums at an early age. Nick also had a passion for invention, and could be found many evenings drinking coffee and tinkering with one of his gadgets at the kitchen table. He was also a bit of a pool shark. Nick always had a sense of humor and a stubborn love for his children and grandchildren.
Nick is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Minnie Mickle, of Mustang, OK; his daughter, Jaycee Mickle, and granddaughter Hanna, of Chickasha, OK; his son, Jess Mickle, of Oklahoma City; granddaughter Chasta Smith; also by his stepchildren Sara Saunders Martin of Lobelville, TN, and Lacy MeChelle Saunders of Oklahoma City, OK. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sally; his daughter Diana, and his mother Vivian Irene and father Richard Harmon.
A memorial will be held this Saturday, July 2 at 11 a.m. at the Cowboy Country Church (4092 Norge Road, Chickasha, OK). All are welcome to attend and celebrate Nick's life.
