Reba Shaw
Memorial services for Reba Shaw, 88, of Ninnekah, will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints in Chickasha.
Reba Jo (Godwin) Shaw was born March 12, 1929 to Emmett and Dorothy (Phillips) Godwin. She grew up on her family's farm near Alex, Oklahoma, where she learned the value of work and developed a love for the land that she carried with her throughout her life. On June 5, 1949 she married R.T. Shaw and the couple made their home in Agwam and later Ninnekah.
Reba's father liked to joke that she had been "vaccinated with a phonograph needle," and her skill at and love of good conversation carried many a social occasion with warmth and laughter. She hated to sew, but loved to bake, and passed her favorite cookie recipes to grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She learned to drive at age 25, survived cancer at age 28, and raised her two children to be self-sufficient and of sound judgment under any circumstance. May Reba's story now continue under the care of her Heavenly Father.
Reba Shaw died peacefully surrounded by her husband, children and daughter-in-law at OU Medical Center August 28, 2017.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Dorse Godwin Manning.
Reba is survived by her husband, R.T. Shaw, of the home, her son, Ted and his wife Katy Shaw of Ninnekah and daughter Nancy Rebecca Shaw of Orem, Utah, as well her niece Sue Moore of Alex. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Amanda and her husband Britt Newsome, Sam and his wife Lindsey Shaw and Tyler Shaw, all of Denver, Colorado; great-grandchildren Kathleen Caroline Newsome, Oscar Browne Newsome, Josie Dee Shaw and Will Sullivan Shaw.
Services are under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.sevierfuneralhome.com.
