Robert Duwayne Hedgecock
Funeral service for Robert Duwayne Hedgecock, age 96 of Lawton, Oklahoma will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2018 in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel in Chickasha.
Duwayne was born the son of John R. Hedgecock and Clara Mae Straily Hedgecock on September 15, 1921 in Chickasha. He died on February 12, 2018 in Oklahoma City.
Duwayne grew up in Chickasha. While in the 11th grade he volunteered for the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. After four years of service, he returned to Chickasha and worked construction with his father. A few years later, he moved to Oklahoma City and worked for a wholesale grocery trucking business. He was promoted to salesman and was transferred to Lawton in 1956. He later went to work for Herb's Discount Grocery retiring as assistant manager. At the time of his death, he was living in Norman surrounded by "his girls".
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mae Hedgecock, wife Ferne Felder Hedgecock; daughter Charlotte Hedgecock Hawthorne; brother Clifton Hedgecock; sister Ila Mae Hedgecock.
Survivors include daughter Teressa Edwards and husband Brent of Moore; daughter Donna Crow and husband Kent of Pampa, Texas; daughter Vicki Gibson and husband Carl of Norman; brother Roy Hedgecock and wife Jo of Cleveland, Texas; brother Terry Hedgecock of Midwest City; sister Jimmie Holderman of Lake Kiowa, Texas; grandchildren Kristin Thomas and husband Ryan, Kyle Edwards, Kendra Thompson and husband Brandon, Matthew Crow, Mitchell Crow, and Gregory Gibson; great grandchildren Madison, Shelby, Caden, Olivia, Karson, and Stryker; several nieces, nephews, and cousins that he dearly loved.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
