Robert Lee Taylor 62 of Lawton entered into his heavenly rest due to sudden illness with his family by his side on Saturday May 13, 2017.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Friday May 19, 2017 at Watchetaker Hall Comanche Nation Complex north of Lawton with Rev. Shelly Ware, Rev. D.D. McHenry and Minister Larriel Tawkoyty officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Scott KCA Cemetery under direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home.
Prayer Service will be 7:00 PM Thursday May 18, 2017 at the Funeral Home Chapel.
Robert was born June 26, 1954 in Anadarko to Dora Taylor and Emmeral Tom Givens, Robert grew up in New Jersey before moving to Lawton. In 1971 he attended Lawton High School. Robert spend a short time in the Navy in 1972. He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Anadarko, during this time Robert met the love of his life Gayla Sue Toyekoyah in 1975. They were joined in marriage on March 29yh 1982 in Wichita Falls TX and made their home in Lawton. Robert attended the Lawton Indian Mission from 1992-2005 where he surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus Christ, he was an Adult and Youth Sunday School Teacher as well as a musician. Robert was a faithful supporter of many ministries as well as his wife's Evangelistic Ministry. Robert was employed by P.A. Chevrolet, Cecil Lawton and for the last 20 years by Milo Gordon Honda as a Service Technician, Lube Tech, and detailing, he was also employed by Curnal Butler. Robert enjoyed detailing cars, it was more of a hobby than a job, he met many customers in his hobby but soon became friends, Robert met no strangers. He enjoyed playing games on his computer and spending time with his grandchildren, he enjoyed listening to his oldies collection of albums, he also enjoyed grilling meats on his smoker and learning new techniques on marinades and using various woods for flavor.
Robert is survived by his wife Gayla Sue of the home, Two sons; Robert Taylor Jr. of the home and Carlos and wife Cindy Taylor of Lawton. Two Daughters; Kristie Tawkoyty and Stephanie Jackson both of Lawton. His mother; Dora Newsome of Lawton, Stepmother Janice Givens of Chickasha. Five brothers; Mike and Clarice Taylor of Langhorne PA, Anthony Newsome of Lawton, Lester and Debra Newsome of Denton TX, Dannye Newsome of Alva, Bobby Ray(Coon) Thompson of Chickasha. Four sisters; Tamara and Johnny Watson of Terrell TX, Undranay and Eric Broussard of Montgomery TX, Penny Gallagher of Grand Junction Colorado, and Alisha and Jeff Lewis of Lawton. seventeen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, friends and special friends, coworkers who will greatly miss Robert.
He is preceded in death by son; Vida Blu Tawkoyty Sr. Father; Emmeral Tom Givens, brother; Jimmy Taylor, sister; Sherri Newsome, and grandparents; Evadora and Charles Taylor.
