Ruth  McConnell


Ruth E. McConnell of Lindsay, Oklahoma was born to Herbert P. and Grace E. (Owen) Miller on June 16, 1934 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and passed from this life on June 22, 2019 in McAlester, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years.
Ruth grew up and attended school in Tulsa and college at OBU. Ruth and Alvin McConnell were married on June 19, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing piano, marimba, puzzles, and singing with her family. Ruth started a birthday card ministry and taught Sunday school and served WMU (Women's Missionary Union).
Mrs. McConnell is survived by: 2 sons: David McConnell and wife Angela of Claremore, Oklahoma, Phillip McConnell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 3 daughters: Kathy Whitfill of Moore, Oklahoma, Christy McGee and husband Waymond of Moore, Oklahoma, Tammy Moore and husband Terry of McAlester, Oklahoma, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also, special friends and caretakers at Walnut Grove Living Center in McAlester, Ok.
Mrs. McConnell was preceded in death by: Her husband: Alvin McConnell, Parents: Herbert and Grace Miller, Son-in-law: Charles Whitfill
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Terry Moore officiating. Interment will be in the Foster Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. You may send a condolence to the family at Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Lindsay on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. The family has requested that any memorial donations be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Children's Home at Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, 3800 North May Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73112-6506.
