Shirley's Story

Text size

Shirley Ann "Grannie" Pugh, 63, of Verden, died Tuesday evening, September 19, 2017, in Oklahoma City. The daughter of Harrel Randle and Wanda Carol (Milam) Randle, she was born August 23, 1954 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Shirley graduated from Verden High School in 1973. She then married William Pugh, the love of her life, on June 22, 1973 in Verden, Oklahoma. Due to William's service in the Air Force, they moved to Germany then Florida before returning to Oklahoma to make Verden their home. A devout and faithful Christian, Shirley lived her life to serve the Lord and her family. She did this by being a member of the First Baptist Church in Verden for over 32 years. During this time, she taught Sunday School for more than 30 years. Shirley had a full and blessed life with many hobbies. She enjoyed cross stitch, reading mystery novels, watching General Hospital, and watching crime shows, especially those based on real crimes. Shirley also sold Avon and loved meeting new people. She was an avid fan of Elvis and enjoyed listening to his music and collecting memorabilia. However Shirley's main pastime was spending time with those she loved. The pride and joy of her life were her children and her grandchildren. "Grannie" to her five year old granddaughter and six year old grandson was one of the finest titles she had. Shirley loved to read bedtime stories to them, play with them, take them to McDonald's, and laugh at their antics. Her whole world revolved around her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her father and most recently lost her mother on May 31, 2017; a sister, Karen Randle; a nephew, Dustin Rhodes; and a great-nephew, Tyler Johnson.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, William Pugh, of Verden; three sons, Murl Pugh and Letha Meeks, of Chickasha, Chris Pugh and his wife, Renae, of Verden, and Timothy Pugh and his wife, Kinnie, of Norge; two grandchildren, Harrel Randle Pugh and Annie Mae Pugh; one sister, Diana Cooper and her husband, Allen, of Moore; two brothers, Keith Randle and his wife, Tammy, of Verden and David Randle of Verden; several aunts and uncles; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many other loved ones and friends.
She was an angel on earth who will be missed by all those who know and love her.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 25, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Verden. Burial will follow in the Verden Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
