Sidney S. Cook
Funeral service for Sidney S. Cook, age 91 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 in the Epworth United Methodist Church. Rev. Scott Keneda will officiate.
Sidney was born to Lee and Ella Auttonberry Cook on January 6, 1926 in the Ninnekah area. He passed away on August 29, 2017 in Oklahoma City.
Sidney graduated from Meridian High School and served his country during World War II. He was a member of the Methodist Church for more than 60 years with 50+ years at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha. He was associated with the Virgin Lumber Building and Supply Company of Chickasha for 32 years; as truck driver, then clerk, General Manager and part owner. He especially enjoyed the many customers he met during those years.
After selling his interest in the business, he spent many happy hours working with the Festival of Light, Grady County Historical Society, various church committees and projects. He enjoyed working with stained glass, making many beautiful crosses and other items which were mostly given away to friends and relatives. He loved being with his family and spoiling his grand and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers and one granddaughter.
Survivors include his loving wife Lois of 72 years, daughter Carol Cooper and husband Charles, son Phillip Cook and wife Dorris, three grandchildren; Brandi Harry and husband Chris, Cory Cook and wife Candace, Cami Post and husband Danny and six great grandchildren; Hayden and Hudson Harry, Landen and Sydney Cook, Asher and Adelynn Post.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
