Wilburn Nelson Rodgers, known as Webb to his family and friends, was born October 25, 1935 in Booneville, Arkansas, the son of Bert G. Rodgers and Mary Louellen (Childress) Rodgers. He died Thursday, February 22, 2018 at his home in Norman, Oklahoma.
Webb graduated from Amber High School in 1955. He married his high school sweetheart, Patsy "Pat" Parker in May 1956 and they were together 51 years and had four daughters, before her passing in 2008.
He had been a member of the Army National Guard for a couple of years before joining the United States Navy. After over 20 years in the Navy, serving during Vietnam, he retired from the military in 1975. He then worked as a radio announcer for a Christian radio station in Fresno, California and then as a supply supervisor for a textile plant in Lemoore, California before moving back to Oklahoma. He drove a bus for Chickasha Public Schools for many years.
Webb was a longtime member of College Heights Baptist Church. He was very involved in church activities and loved his church family.
In 2012, he met Carolyn (Wells) Plumlee and found love once again. They married June 7, 2012 and lived in Norman, Oklahoma. They had five years and eight months of joy and a life of adventures. They loved to travel and most of all enjoyed loving the Lord together at Bethel Baptist Church in Norman.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and messing around with his computer, "Webb" was very appropriate as the World Wide Web is one of the many things he loved. He loved his family and will be deeply missed by each one.
