Billy Don Card, Sr.
Funeral service for Billy Don Card, Sr., 82, of Chickasha, OK will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at College Heights Baptist Church. Rev. James Swain will officiate with Dr. Bryan Haynes assisting.
Billy Don Card was born December 24, 1934, in Fort Worth the only child of John Clair Card and Vira Jean Griggs.
He graduated from Purcell High School in 1953, and attended the University of Oklahoma and Louisiana State University obtaining an Associates Degree. While at OU he met and fell in love with Edilynn Turner, becoming his bride on August 29, 1954.
Establishing a home in Duncan, he worked his way up through the banking industry with the First National Bank & Trust. He had three children; Billy Don, Jr., Robert Clair and Marilyn. Bill became involved in their lives by volunteering as Cub Scout Scoutmaster and PTA officer. He was passionately involved with the Kiwanis Club.
Moving to Chickasha in 1972, he accepted a job with the First National Bank & Trust, retiring after 43 years as Senior Vice President in 1997. In 2001, he started work at College Heights Baptist Church working there for 16 years. Bill served as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Duncan and Chickasha.
Bill loved to hunt, fish, motor boat, create stained glass art and play a little golf. His love of photography led him to becoming a regional judging photographer for the American Orchid Society.
Bill is survived by his wife, Edilynn, of 62 years; his children: "Donny" and his wife DeNean; "Bob" and Dana Hodge; and "Missy" Marilyn Card Holt and her husband Terry. Seven grandchildren, April Hartsell, Billy Holt, Ethan Card, Emily Parr, Galen Card, Caleb Card, and Taryn Card. Five great grandchildren, Kylie Hartsell, Kelsey Hartsell, William Holt, Cooper Holt, and Liam Card.
He passed away peacefully from this life on Friday January 27, 2017, and is currently serving and assisting in the preparations for our arrival in the years to come.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
