Evelyn "Gene" Jones Johnson
1935-2017
Memorial services for Evelyn "Gene" Jones Johnson, 81, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Ohl officiating.
Evelyn Imogene Jones Johnson, known to many as Gene, was born on August 31, 1935 to Roy Nathan Kinslow and Prudie (Lewis) Kinslow. She died February 1, 2017 at Grace Living Center in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
She married Marvin Leon Jones Sr. on April 2, 1951 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma.
Evelyn was born in Alex, Oklahoma and was raised up mostly in Chickasha. She was a homemaker and mother of six. She had five sons and one daughter. She loved to spend time with her family. She did needlepoint and quilting, she also loved dancing. She was always helping people whenever she had the opportunity. She loved her family most of all. Evelyn had a love for cats and her cat, Chloe, was the light of her life in recent years. She was a very sweet lady.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Marvin Leon Jones Sr. and Daniel Keith Johnson; sons Leon Herrick, Alvin Roy Jones, Steven Archie Jones, Johnny Lee Jones, and Marvin Leon Jones Jr., and grandson Rocky Ray Decker.
Evelyn is survived by daughter Tejuana Roshell Decker Heidleberg of Chickasha; grandson, Billy Jack Decker, of Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughter, Rachael Lavonne Decker Felder, of Oklahoma City; great-grandsons, Tyler, Tanner, and Turner Felder, of Oklahoma City; great-granddaughter, Savannah Felder, of Oklahoma City; niece, Verlie and nephew Sergio Perez, of Chickasha.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzehimer's Foundation at www.Alz.org and Muscular Dystrophy Association at www.MDA.org.
Services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
