Hershel Reese Busby passed peacefully from this life on February 24, 2015 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was 91 years old. He was born on February 12, 1924 to James and Bonnie Busby in Tabler, Oklahoma. He attended elementary at Harris and then went to Middleburg . He entered the U S Army during WW II . During the war, he served in The Philipipines and New Guinea . He married in 1947 and had two sons. One born in 1948 and the second born in 1953. He divorced in 1959. He spent his life in Chickasha working numerous jobs. His longest tenured job was that of a long haul truck driver for LeeWay. He received many safe driving citations and awards for never having an accident. He was a member of The Teamsters. His greatest joy throughout his life were his grandkids, great grandkids and his great-great grandson. He has four grandkids: Shawna Rogers, Blanchard, Nikki Busby, Chickasha and two grandkids in Texas. He has six great grandkids and one great- great grandson-five generations! He was preceded in death by his father, mother and oldest brother, J.B. He has a sister, Mary Castleberry living in Moore, and a younger brother, Bobby Joe Busby. His last 3 1/2 years were spent in the Lawton - Ft. Sill Veterans Center. Those were 3 1/2 of the most peaceful years if his life. The family is very appreciative to staff at the Veterans Center for their care and compassion. He will be buried in the Chickasha Cemetary along side his father, mother and brother. A private service will be held by the family to celebrate his life.
