James David Cox
James (Jim) David Cox was born on December 06, 1934 in Union County Kentucky to Sara Omer Cox and Charles Glen Cox. He made his passage from his earthly ties on May 11, 2017.
Jim and his brother, Glen Cox, where raised by their maternal grandmother, Susan Teer Omer in Morganfield Kentucky. Jim was a very avid football player and held many awards during his career.
Jim started working in the Kentucky oilfields as a summer roustabout at 14 years old. He went to work for Sun Oil Company upon his graduation from high school. He retired with 38 years of service after working in Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Oklahoma. Upon his retirement he returned to Chickasha Oklahoma upon retiring.
He was very active in the First Christian Church and was an Elder. The highlight of his life was being able to travel to the Holy Lands and conduct studies of his faith. Jim was also very active in Habitat for Humanity and worked beside Former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Roseland Carter in Kentucky, New Mexico, Louisiana and Oklahoma. Jim truly believed in paying it forward and was always ready to help others.
He is survived by his two daughters, Pamela Sue Cox Wise and her husband Phillip Wise of Nevada and Sherri Kay Cox Lewis and her husband Johnny Lewis of Chickasha. He was blessed with five grandchildren, Michelle Wise Bellard and her husband Dr Bret Bellard of Nevada, Heather Wise Morz and her husband Michael Morz of Colorado, Sean Wise of Texas, JR Lewis and JD Lewis of Chickasha Oklahoma.
James was further blessed with six great-grandchildren, Alexis Lewis and Jacob Lewis of Oklahoma, Jackson Bellard of Nevada, Treston, Jake and Elizabeth Morz of Colorado. He also had a large host of friends and co-workers that he treasured.
A reception will be held Sunday May 14th from 4:00-6:00pm at the First Christian Church Chickasha Oklahoma He also requested no flowers but requested you to "Pay It Forward".
