JOANNE MARIE GILGER SETSER
June 9, 1933 — December 14, 2016
Born in Tulsa on June 9, 1933 to Mildred Marie Hodges Gilger and Fred Arthur Gilger. Joanne went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 14, 2016 at the age of 83.
Joanne was descended from pioneer Tulsa families. Attended Tulsa Public Schools and graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1951. Studied at the University of Tulsa where she was a member of Phi Mu. She married the great love of her life, Fred A. Setser, on June 28, 1952. Shortly after, Joanne and Fred moved to Enid where she worked as a secretary to an architect and he served in the U.S. Air Force. The Air Force then took the couple to Austin, Texas before moving back to Tulsa. Their only child, Sandra Joalyce, was born in Tulsa in 1955. The family of three moved to Houston, Texas in 1959. In Houston, Joanne was a hospital volunteer, member of Garden Club, Bridge Club, Banker' s Wives and Republican Women's Club. Her favorite job was being a homemaker which she excelled at. Returned to Tulsa in 1968 where she enjoyed being involved with the Phi Mu Tulsa Area Alumni chapter group, Tulsa Cerebral Palsy Association and Bridge Clubs. For a short time she was in PEO, the Tulsa area Panhellenic and was a Tulsa Philharmonic volunteer. From 1985 to 1995, Joanne and Fred owned American Wholesale Thermographers printing business in Tulsa where she worked alongside her husband as Vice President. AWT received numerous industry awards.
 Joanne was well-known for her friendliness, her thoughtfulness and for being a good neighbor. She was an excellent cook and she grew beautiful roses and other flowers for many years. She was very proud of and dearly loved her grandson and granddaughter. Her great grandchildren were all dear and beautiful to her. She was a 41-year member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Joanne was preceded in death by her father, Fred Gilger in 1978 her mother, Mildred Gilger in 1998 and her husband of 61 years Fred A. Setser in 2013 -- also descended from pioneer Tulsa families. After Fred's passing, Joanne moved to Chickasha, OK where she lived for over three years. Survivors are: daughter Sandy Posey and her husband Tom of Chickasha, OK, grandson Travis Posey and his wife Libby of Chickasha, granddaughter Elise Bradford and her husband Angelo of Edmond, OK, great grandchildren Ava Elise Posey, William King Posey, Audrey Kate Bradford, Adley Marie Bradford and Riley Quinn Bradford, cousin Sylvia O'Neill of Arkansas, cousin Patrick Louque of Houston.
Viewing will be 12Noon-9PM, Monday, December 19, 2016 and Tuesday, 8AM-12Noon at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK.  A Memorial service will be held in Mason Chapel of Asbury United Methodist Church 6767 South Mingo on Tuesday, December 20 at 2:00 pm under the direction of Moore's Funeral Home Southlawn.
