Joseph Milton McClendon, Jr.
Mr. Joseph Milton McClendon, Jr, was born December 6, 1945 in Eastman, Georgia, to Joseph Milton McClendon, Sr. and Ella Mae Wilson. He attended Peabody Elementary School in Macon, Georgia. He was a long-time resident of Chickasha, Oklahoma. He was a devout member of The Church of the Living God, P.G.T. He was also a member of Church of the Living God Choir, the Men of Praise, and the Chickasha Community Choir.
In 1970 he enlisted in the United States Army and served for seven years. While in the Army, Joseph was a medical supplyman and a sharp shooter. He served both inland and in Germany. Joseph received several awards while in the Army, including the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Joseph worked for the Catepillar/Darr Equipment Company until retirement.
Joseph Milton McClendon, Jr., enjoyed mowing lawns, working on the farm and machinery along the side of his best friends Burrel Gamble and Steve Burton.
On May 12, 1978, Joseph married Anita Wilkins. They shared four children: Tanisha McClendon, Misty McClendon, Joseph McClendon, III, and Natalie (McClendon) Benoit and ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild from this union.
On October 25, 2001, he entered into matrimony with Alice Faye Perkins until her death in 2014.
Joseph Milton McClendon, Jr., passed away at his home on Friday, October 7, 2016. Preceding him in death were his wife, Faye Perkins; his parents, Joseph McClendon, Sr. and Ella Mae Wilson; daughter, Tanisha McClendon; sisters, Sarah McClendon, and Doretha Flint; brothers, Lucious McClendon and Otis McClendon; and one grandchild, Arion McClendon. Joseph leaves to cherish his memory four children, David Cornell McClendon of Georgia, Misty McClendon of Norman, OK, Joseph McClendon, III and Natalie (Kawitton) Benoit, both of Chickasha, OK; sisters, Eleanor Wilcox of Georgia, Lois Marion of Georgia, Clora McNeal of Georgia; brothers, William McClendon, Willie James McClendon, Zack McCain of Chickasha, OK and Melvin McClendon; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
