Funeral service for Marie Byrum, age 89 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2016 in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kim Hayes will officiate.
Lois Marie was born the daughter of Willie (Bill) Alfred Spears and Millie Mae Ellis Spears on February 7, 1927 in Ninnekah, Oklahoma. She went to be with her family on September 14, 2016 in Chickasha.
Marie met Noel Byrum in 1944 at the Chickasha Rodeo, and they were married in 1945. They adopted their daughter Connie in 1953, then their daughter Linda "Susie" and their son Kenneth "Tuffy" in 1954. Her husband started the Byrum Brothers John Deere dealership in Chickasha. They later moved to Minco where he started the John Deere dealership. In 1956, they returned to Chickasha and purchased the John Deere dealership again. While her husband ran the dealership, she took care of the home and raised the kids. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught the young children in Sunday school.
She was preceded in death by her husband Noel Byrum; parents Bill and Millie Spears; sister Betty Prather; sister Louise Jenkins; brother Raymond (Pete) Spears; sister Wilma Lou Spears.
Survivors include her daughter Connie Duncan; daughter and husband Linda and Dave Bennett; son and wife Kenneth and Susan Byrum; seven grandchildren Eddie, Chris, Bryan, Shavouna, Kendall, Christi, and Donovan; eight great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews that she thought the world of.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
