Funeral Mass for Mary J. Beller, 95 of Lawton will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Roy Narisetti officiating.
Mrs. Beller passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at her home in Lawton.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Mary was born on December 8, 1920 in Tell City, Indiana to Charles Francis and Anna Rose (Luckert) Hubbs. She grew up in Indiana where she attended school. She worked at Tell City Furniture for a while and later moved to Louisville, Kentucky where she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" ship welder during WWII. She married Charles P. Beller on November 5, 1949 in Louisville, Kentucky. They got into the Kentucky Fried Chicken business and moved to Lawton in 1964. They were known as "Pioneer Franchisees" when Col. Harland Sanders still owned and operated the KFC Company. They owned and operated KFC's in Lawton, Altus, Burkburnett, and Chickasha. They sold the Lawton stores in 1989 and the Chickasha store in 2008. In her younger days Mary was active in square dancing and round dancing. She loved her family. She raised her children, grandchildren and a great granddaughter. She was very devoted to helping the Vietnamese immigrants to relocate to Lawton during the 70's and 80's. Mary was a devout Catholic and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Charles P. Beller, of the home; her great granddaughter, Haley Beller, of the home; her sons and daughters in law, Chris and Trisha Beller, of Houston, TX, Michael and Christie Beller, of Chickasha, OK , and Charlie M. Beller, of Lawton; her daughter, Dr. Patty Cupit, of Lawton, OK; her grandchildren, Kristen Franco, Jennie Beller, Charlie Beller, Michelle Lundsten, Sarah Keith, Megan Butler, Victoria Shields, Johnathan Beller, Kylie Beller, and Christian Beller; and 21 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, John Beller, her son in law, Rex Cupit; her grandson, Scott Yelverton; two brothers; and one sister.
