Sammy Morgan
Funeral service for Sammy Morgan of Chickasha, OK will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Bible Baptist Church. Rev. Kim Hayes will officiate.
Sammy Morgan was born to Samuel S. Morgan and Lula Hudson Morgan on November 28, 1926 in Sterling, OK and passed from this life on March 17, 2017 in Chickasha, OK.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Lillian Doris Morgan; four brothers; three sisters; one great-grandchild Landry Morgan; and several nephews and nieces.
Sam left home at an early age and worked for General Seismograph Company before entering WWII. He was being trained for the Japanese homeland invasion when the United States dropped the bombs on Japan. Sam was then reassigned to Post WWII Korea to the CO A535 Amphibious Tractor Battalion. Sam married Lillian Doris Guinn on November 12, 1947. Sam's first job after returning from service was working for a Bell Telephone contractor. He was then employed by Tinker AFB from 1951 to 1954. He resigned from Tinker to work in Chickasha as co-owner of Appliance Service Center returning to Tinker AFB in 1961. He rose to Section Chief before retiring in 1986. He received his high school diploma in 1969 after completing the high school courses offered by correspondence by the American School of Chicago, IL. He received his Chickasha High School diploma at a veterans recognition graduation on May 21, 2004. Sam spent his retirement enjoying his family and friends at Bible Baptist Church and McDonald's. He was Lillian's care giver for many years as she suffered from failing health and Alzheimer Disease. Sam, like many from his generation, was a "Jack of All Trades" from being raised during the depression. He loved fixing things and building things and kept meticulous records on everything, a trait he must have learned from working for the civil service. Sam knew a lot about health care and medicine and loved going to the doctor. He was always anxious to help Dr. Hess make a diagnosis and find a cure, LOL! He was a long time trustee of Bible Baptist Church. He will be missed by his family and buddies at Bible Baptist, McDonald's, J & W Grill and Braum's and especially by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sam is survived by: his son Mike Morgan and his wife Wanda of Boerne, TX and their children Mike, Jr., his wife Tiffany and children Cole and Jacob; Clinton and his wife Kimberley and children Liberty, Lainey and Tanner; Sareca Kistler and her husband John Kistler and child Morgan Kistler; his daughter Karen Monk of Norman and her children Matt Bray and his wife Jennifer of Fulton, NY and their children Savannah and Lillian; Joshua Monk and his wife Cassie of Washington D.C. and children William and Teddy; and Sarah and Christian Monk; his daughter Sharon Ray and her husband Greg of McLoud, OK and their children Christopher Ray, Kara McCullah and her husband Justin and their children Karlee and Jaycee; his son Lonnie Morgan and his wife Mae of Chickasha and their children Paul and Lydia; his son Larry Morgan and his wife Kim of Choctaw, OK and their children Stephanie and her husband Russell Davis and their child Violet; and Kelly and her husband Steven Clarke; his sister Peggy Thorsen of Tulsa and many nephews and nieces.
