Rush Springs, OK - Claude Ray Parnell, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at the age of 80, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma. Born on October 3, 1944, in Hatch, New Mexico, Claude was a man who lived a life marked by devotion to his family, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the simple joys in life.
Claude was the beloved husband of Carolyn Parnell, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories. He was a proud father to his son Earl Zane Parnell, and his daughter Brandie Parnell. His legacy continues through his grandsons Seth Parnell and Sam Snook, who will remember him for his playful humor and the wisdom he imparted. Preceding him in death were his parents, Earl and Velma (Horn) Parnell, his daughter Cynthia Parnell, his sister Velma Gay Neal, and his nephew Michael Penny. These departures were heartfelt losses for Claude, each leaving an indelible mark on his life.
An alumnus of Rush Springs Public Schools, Claude's commitment to excellence was evident in his professional life. He dedicated 20 years to factory maintenance at PET Incorporated, where his reliability and skill were greatly valued. His colleagues will remember him as a man who could always be counted on, both for his expert workmanship and his quick wit.
A devout Christian, Claude lived his faith through his actions, embodying the principles of love, kindness, and compassion. He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as restoring antique cars, rummaging through car sales and flea markets, watching his favorite westerns, and raising quail and rabbits. Above all, his happiest moments were those spent surrounded by his children and grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with his loving and humorous spirit.
Claude will be remembered as a man who was not only handy and capable with any task but also as a beacon of warmth and laughter for all who knew him. His presence brought a sense of comfort and joy to any gathering, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
