A rosary will be held 5:30 p.m., Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Holy Name Catholic Church, Chickasha, OK. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 at Holy Name Catholic Church. Interment will be at Celestial Gardens Cemetery, Cyril, Oklahoma under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

John William Nix, 90, was born January 31, 1933 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Lee Fount and Theresa (Gonshor) Nix. He passed away on February 1, 2023 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

John was born between Ft. Cobb and Carnegie on a farm. When he was 6 years old he picked 300 pounds of cotton a day. John moved around a lot with his family from Montana to New Mexico, then back to Oklahoma where they lived in several towns until finally settling in Cyril where he graduated from High School. John served in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957 on the U.S.S. Oriskanny, he was very proud of his service in the Navy.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jo Nix; daughter, Tiena Rae Nix; parents Lee Fount and Theresa (Gonshor) Nix.

John is survived by his son, Jody Nix and wife, Patricia of Cyril, OK; granddaughters, Tajah Smith and spouse, Jason of Red Oak, Oklahoma, Rachelle Nix, of Chickasha, OK, Breanna (Bree) Nix of Cement, OK; great-grandchildren, Patrick Pace, Jaykoda Cogburn, Lori Cogburn, Cason Cogburn, all of Red Oak, OK, Jaalyn Andrews, Javon Andrews, and Jazzlyn Nix, of Chickasha; special friend, Evalynn Rith Johnson; and brother, Jim Nix. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
