Moore, Oklahoma - Lola Belle Henshaw Metz, formerly of Moore, Oklahoma passed away at her daughter's home in Chickasha, Oklahoma surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025. Haven Home Health and Hospice of Norman, Oklahoma provided compassionate guidance and support for Lola and her family during her final days. Home Going Service, officiated by Pastor Vaughn Wand, was held on Monday, September 1st at New Life Church, in Chickasha, Oklahoma followed by interment at the Moore Cemetery, in Moore, Oklahoma, under the direction of McRay Funeral Home of Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Lola Belle was born on December 4th, 1936 in Okemah, Oklahoma to parents Albert Clinton and Esther Belle Cole Henshaw. As a child she loved singing in the church choir, climbing anything, and Roy Rogers. But what she loved the most, was her Moma and the time they shared together. She married Luther Green on March 2nd, 1952 and gave birth to five children, Lola, Sherrie, Louisa, Marty, and Esther. While employed at a local nursing center in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma where she and her family resided, Lola attended a certified nursing program and became a Certified Nurses Aide. While continuing to work full-time Lola attended classes at the School for Vocational Practical Nurses in Ada, Oklahoma where she graduated top of her class on September 16th, 1969 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Soon after receiving her nursing license Lola was employed at the Lindsay Memorial Hospital, formerly known as the Holman hospital, circa 1948. in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Lola Belle and her family later moved to Moore, Oklahoma where she obtained immediate employment as a LPN at Four Seasons Nursing Center on South Walker in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was quickly promoted to the position of Charge Nurse, and then promoted to Director of Nursing. In September of 1982 Lola enrolled in Nursing Home Administrators School at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. After graduating in May of 1983 and receiving her Administrators license, she accepted the position of Nursing Home Administrator within the Four Seasons Corporation, which was later bought by the Manor Care Corporation where she remained employed until her retirement in 1998.
Lola Belle is preceded in death by her husband Bill Metz, father, Albert Clinton, mother Esther Belle Henshaw, three brothers, Clinton, Buford and Albert Henshaw, one sister, Shirley Keeling, twin siblings, Dorthy and Doyle, two daughters, Esther Louella Coburn, Lola Ann Green, one son, Martin Luther Green, one grandson, Wade Burnett, and one granddaughter Tina Louise Thompson, one great granddaughter, one great-great granddaughter, as well as many numerous beloved extended family and friends.
Lola Belle is survived by one sister, Alberta Shirlene Vaughan of El Reno, OK, two daughters, Sherrie Mae Lambert and husband Doug of Chickasha, OK, Louisa Campbell and husband Wayne of Plano, TX., six granddaughters, Cristi Mae Burnett, Christina Louise Turner, Valarie Ann Lambert, Lisa Marie Green, Sarah Renea Coburn, Mackinzie Paige Green, three grandsons, Keith Thompson, Ric Lambert, and Brian Coburn, 23 great grandchildren, and 19 great-great grandchildren.
Lola Belle will be remembered as a woman of unshakable faith, unquestionable character, seemingly endless strength, unbreakable fortitude, and charity with an infinite capacity for love and compassion. And the absolute best moma, and grandmaw ever.
