Sharon K. Stephens Obituary

A Memorial Service for Sharon K. Stephens was held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Parkview Christian Church in Chickasha, OK.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sharon K. Stephens, who earned her eternal rest January 15th, 2025, in Chickasha, OK in her home. Sharon was born on March 3rd, 1945, in Chickasha, OK to John C. Cates and Lois (Lehew) Cates Sharpe.

Sharon grew up in the Chickasha, OK area and lived most of her life here as well. She married Virgle Stephens in 1963 in Chickasha, OK. They had three children. Virgle died in 1977, and she remarried in 1979 to Allen Largent, and they did not have any children.

She worked in factories, laundry facilities and was a stay-at-home mother. She enjoyed traveling for a while with Virgle as he was in the Navy, and they traveled to many states while he was enlisted. Once he was honorably discharged from the military they made their home in Houston, TX until his passing in 1977. Upon his passing she would move her and the three girls they had back to Oklahoma to be closer to family. She made her home in Chickasha, OK with her three girls. Sharon loved spending time with her three girls, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. In her early years she loved to cook and bake as well as sew and make her children's clothes. As she aged, she enjoyed traveling when possible, going to the casino, playing Bingo, playing games on her IPad, watching WWE Wrestling, Lifetime channel and mystery movies. Sharon did word search puzzles for fun and enjoyed just relaxing out on her back patio when the weather permitted. Her joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John C. Cates, and Lois (Lehew) Cates Sharpe; her first husband, Virgle Stephens and her second husband, Allen Largent; daughter, Sherri (Stephens) Amerson; brother, Eddie (Sonny) Cates; sister, JoAnne (Cates) Lewis; and son-in-law, Lloyd V. Young; as well as her cousin, Dale Lehew.
